All Dogs goto Heaven

Now, I have yet to bathe my doggy with this recipe, but I am going to try it once the weather gets warmer. :) Chihuahuas are hypersensitive to cold weather, I'm sure wet coats (even if I blow dry them down) don't feel great in the cold weather. So, in searching for homemade doggy flea shampoo, I found TWO recipes that I'm willing to try. One is a scrub, one is an all natural shampoo :) I love my Diva Baby Wooky, (Diva) and I don't want any super harsh chemicals going onto her coat.

Flea Scrub

1/2 Cup Dawn dish detergent (blue)

1/2 Cup iodized Salt

1/4 Cup Epsom Salt.

Mix detergent and salts together, and dampen the coat with warm water, then apply scrub. Should kill fleas on contact.

Flea Shampoo

1/2 Cup Distilled Vinegar

1 Cup Dawn dish detergent

6 drops of Essential Oils (I'm using Coconut Oil)

Mix ingredients together and apply on a dry coat, massage shampoo in well, rinse, and repeat if you so choose. The slight vinegar smell should repel the fleas, and the Dawn should kill them on contact.

Please let me know how well it has worked for you :)

Best Wishes!

  1. Blue Dawn is what the wild life org. uses on the wild animals the one that has the pic of an animal on the front.

    1. I've heard a lot about the original Dawn detergent, but I wanted to try something extra and new. I've yet to wash the dogs because its too cold but when I do I'll be able to tell about the results and post pictures:) Spring needs to hurry up and get here!!!
